G-Resources is an Asia-Pacific gold company, based and listed in Hong Kong, and is operating the Martabe Gold Mine in North Sumatera.   The open cut mine, with an average strip ratio of less than 1.4:1, and a conventional processing circuit incorporating jaw crushing, SAG and ball milling and CIL, processes in excess of 4.5mtpa to produce greater than 250,000 ounces of gold and 3 million ounces of silver annually.  The Martabe Gold Mine is striving to maintain an excellent track record in responsible mining practices, and clear commitment to compliance to mining regulations as well as developing and managing mining activities with the involvement of local communities.

To strengthen the existing management team and to ensure the achievement of the company objectives, the Martabe Gold Mine is looking for candidate to fill the role :


This position will be based at Martabe site and Processing Department, working on schedule 4 weeks on; 2 weeks off and reports directly to Mechanical Shift Supervisor.

The role of the  Mechanical Supervisor is responsible to :
  • Provide the necessary skills, knowledge and supervision to the mechanical maintenance workforce to ensure all maintenance activities associated with process plant equipment are effectively and safely carried out on a daily basis.
  • Effectively communicate, successfully train and develop the skills of the mechanical maintenance employees into a well-developed, disciplined safe and efficient maintenance team, capable of carrying out daily, weekly and scheduled maintenance activities within the confines of the Martabe Gold Project.
Candidates for this role would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Previous Supervisor skills in mining prefer Gold or Copper.
  • A thorough understanding on the mechanical workings of critical fixed plant equipment (Sag, ball mills, jaw and cone crushers, conveyors and all types of pumps).
  • Capable of supervising the work of the mechanical maintenance team on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Experience working with operations, electrical and planning departments.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, equipment, tools and materials used in the mining / mechanical trades industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards within the mineral processing industry.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out written and oral instructions including the interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Superior work ethic, be able to effectively communicate with all staff and display a high degree of respect to the local people and their culture
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and Internet.
  • Proficient in English skills both written and spoken
  • Preferably those who have Dogman certificates, First-Aid qualifications,  Slewing and non – slewing crane licences  and Train the Trainer certification(s)

• Prepare and implement budgets, shipping schedules, project deliverables, resource allocation and Facility allocation
• Communicate and interface with project management, senior management and supply base personnel and the Clients
• Establish and maintain relationship and communication with local community and local government in order to keep peace and harmonious relationship.
• To prepare and monitor detailed cost forecasts as requested
• To manage variations from and ensure Clients are advised of these changes and to also maximize returns for department

• Min. Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
• Min. 5 years previous experience in Management of Civil Engineering Departments (especially in road construction, bridge, Geotechnical)

• Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Able to review and giving guidance technically on Lead Engineer/Engineer deliverables

• Direct and control the project road construction, bridge, Geotechnical team by providing technical guidance, leadership and support to the people performing design work to ensure that design accuracy, fitness for purpose and schedules achieved comply with Petrosea and client standards and procedures.
• Review and control of all project engineering work including project development, staff assignment and the application of engineering principles throughout the company to ensure all engineering activities are comply with current procedures and regulations
• Plan and develop design strategy for road construction, bridge, Geotechnical in the Engineering function in order to produce the best possible results for the client (either internal or external)
• Able to challenge existing design solutions for road construction, bridge, Geotechnical and develop superior alternatives

EXPERIENCE : 4 years to 6 years on any fabrication shop with GTAW/TIG experience under Welding or QC Discipline, with at least 2 years as a Welding Engineer or QC Engineer
KNOWLEDGE ON : Welding Process and Qualifications, Defect analysis, Material properties, QMS, NDT, Corrosion, failure modes and testing methods.
CODES AND STANDARDS : Familiar with ASME (mostly Sec IX, II) , AWS, DNV, API, ASTM and ISO relevant
COMMUNICATION : Should be very fluent in English and able to develop Welding (WPS, PQR, WOPQ/WPQ) and other relevant procedures.
